EU to support independent, plural, and reliable media in Armenia

An EU-funded media support project was launched in Armenia on 23 September. The €2 million ‘European Media Facility Armenia – Building Sustainable and Professional Media’ project aims to strengthen the freedom and independence of the media in Armenia.

“Armenia, engaged in a process of democratic transition, needs an independent, plural, reliable and responsible media sector,” said Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Armenia.

The project will be implemented by Deutsche Welle, BBC Media Action, Open Society Institute, Factor Information Centre, an Armenian online broadcaster and Investigative Journalists of Armenia (HETQ).
