EU celebrates Belarus Freedom Day

“On Belarus Freedom Day, celebrate all those who keep the hope of a future sovereign and democratic Belarus alive,” the European Commission’s Directorate-General for EU Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) said in a Facebook post today.

On 25 March 1918, the first Belarusian government – the Belarusian People’s Republic – adopted the Charter of Independence. Many Belarusians around the world celebrate this day as Belarus Freedom Day (“Дзень Волі” in Belarusian).

“We will continue to support the people of Belarus in their fight for freedom and democracy,” DG ENEST said.
