On 31 March, an EU delegation led by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Johann Wadephul handed over a new aid package of over 50 equipment units to JSC ‘Ukrainian railways’.
The EU, through the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), has provided 23 units of equipment, including vehicles and generators. An additional 25+ units have been announced, including dump trucks, excavators, low-loaders, trucks, and generators. This machinery will facilitate the restoration and repair of damaged sections and infrastructure facilities.
In the event of power outages or blackouts, the provided generators will ensure the uninterrupted power supply to signaling posts and other railway systems.
Germany contributed 18 vehicles valued at €600,000 to the Ukrainian railway as part of a joint Team Europe effort.
All the equipment will be distributed among the divisions of JSC ‘Ukrainian railways’ and deployed to high-priority areas to ensure the continuous operation of passenger and freight services and to strengthen the Ukrainian railway.
