Ukraine Facility unlocks investment opportunities for dual-use and defence-related industries

On 15 July, at the EU-Ukraine Defence Industry Forum in Kyiv, the European Commission presented financing opportunities available under Pillar II of the Ukraine Facility to support dual-use and defence-related projects in Ukraine.

During the Forum, representatives of the EU, financial institutions and industry discussed how EU-backed financial instruments, including through the Ukraine Investment Framework (UIF), could help mobilise financing for Ukraine’s industrial capacity, innovation and resilience.

The session highlighted ongoing and upcoming UIF financing programmes open to dual-use companies, delivered through the National Development Institution of Ukraine (NDI), Bpifrance – Banque Publique d’Investissement, Finnvera – Finnish state-owned financing company and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Polish Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and Czech Národní rozvojová banka (NRB).

“By reducing investment risks and mobilising public and private financing, the EU aims to support Ukraine’s industrial development, strengthen resilience and foster closer integration into European value chains,” says a press release by the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood.

A dedicated brochure providing an overview of Ukraine Facility Pillar II financing programmes available for dual-use companies can be accessed here.
