EU and UNIDO provide training on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to the Georgian pharmaceutical cluster

With the support of the European Union (EU), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) recently organised for the Georgian Pharmaceutical Cluster an interactive, physical tour of the GM Pharma pharmaceutical factory in Tbilisi.

The tour was organised as part of a wider Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training programme, to which GM Pharma already complies. Earlier this year, UNIDO, with EU support, conducted a series of trainings for members of the Georgian pharmaceutical cluster to improve their ability to comply with quality requirements.

The Georgian pharmaceutical cluster, which brings together producers of bacteriophages and herbal medicines as well as supporting institutions, aims to increase producers’ competitiveness, sales and access to new markets by introducing internationally recognised quality standards.

The tour was organised under the EU4Georgia project on Innovative Action for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia. The programme is funded by the European Union with a budget of €6 million.
