EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katharina Maternova today condemned another Russian strike on Kyiv – just days after the 2 July strike, that took the lives of 31 people and injured 102. Today’s strike took the lives of 12 people so far, injuring over 60, including a nine-month-old baby.
Katharina Maternova stressed that it took Russia only three days to launch another attack: “Before rescue workers had even finished clearing the rubble from last week’s attack, missiles and drones were once again raining down on Ukraine’s capital.”
Russia’s attack targeted at least 15 multi-storey residential buildings, as well as communities around Kyiv. Katharina Maternova said: “Every new strike sends the same message: Russia is not seeking peace. It is trying to exhaust Ukraine, terrorise its people and break their will.”
The EU Ambassador to Ukraine concluded: “It will not succeed. It cannot succeed.”
