EU adopts €150 million assistance to the Republic of Moldova

The EU will provide a macro-financial assistance operation amounting to €150 million in loans and grants to the Republic of Moldova.

The assistance will strengthen Moldova’s resilience in the current geopolitical context and cover Moldova’s balance of payments needs as identified in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. It is designed to support economic stabilisation and Moldova’s reform programme.

Funds are expected to be made available in three tranches between 2022 and 2024. Of the total amount, up to €120 million will be provided in medium and long-term loans with favorable financing conditions and up to €30 million in grants.

This decision will enter into force on the third day after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
