EIB invests in safer and energy-efficient kindergartens in Armenia

On 26 October the European Investment Bank (EIB), the bank of the European Union, and the city of Yerevan signed work contracts for refurbishment, energy efficiency and seismic stability improvements in six kindergartens throughout the capital city of Armenia.

The funds for the upgrades will be disbursed as part the Yerevan Energy Efficiency Project, a €15 million investment from the EIB and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) multi-donor fund. The project aims to improve energy efficiency, seismic stability, and the sanitary conditions of 90 kindergartens in Yerevan.

The Yerevan Energy Efficiency Project finances insulation, improvement of heating, cooling and ventilation systems, reinforcing staircases to withstand stronger earthquakes, and adaptation for people with limited mobility.
