Azerbaijan celebrates 10 years of the Young European Ambassadors initiative

On 14 November, the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan together with the EU-funded ‘Young European Ambassadors’ (YEAs) initiative hosted an event in Baku to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the network.

The event –  ‘EU and Youth: For a Sustainable Future’ – brought together active YEAs, alumni of the YEAs initiative, and EU Member State Ambassadors to discuss future cooperation.

The event was held as part of the education campaign of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, EU Ambassador Marijana Kujundžić highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping modern diplomacy.

“When young people participate in diplomacy, our societies grow stronger and more connected. The EU stands ready to help young people in building a sustainable future,” the Ambassador said.

A youth-led panel discussion brought together the EU Ambassador and YEAs to exchange views on women’s leadership, meaningful youth participation in diplomacy, and the growing role of digital public diplomacy in connecting communities.

Today, Azerbaijan counts over 120 active Young European Ambassadors. Over the past 10 years, they have organised more than 450 activities nationwide — ranging from educational workshops and sustainability campaigns to art competitions and youth dialogues. Across the region, the initiative has engaged over 2,500 young people from more than 30 countries, strengthening cooperation and fostering shared values.

The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative brings together socially engaged youth from the six Eastern Partner countries, the European Union and the United Kingdom to foster dialogue and to raise awareness about the EU and its cooperation with its Eastern partner countries.
