EU to hand over accession questionnaires to Georgia and Moldova on Monday

On Monday, the EU will hand over to Georgia and the Republic of Moldova the questionnaire, which forms the starting point for the EU to decide on their membership, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi tweeted today, after Commission President Ursula von der Leyen handed over the questionnaire to Ukraine in Kyiv on Friday.

The answers to the questionnaire will help the European Commission to prepare opinions on the EU applications of all three countries, as asked by the Council of the European Union.

All three countries already have Association Agreements with the European Union. In Kyiv on Friday, the European Commission President said: “Due to our Association Agreement, Ukraine is already closely aligned with our Union. So we will accelerate this process as much as we can, while ensuring that all conditions are respected.”
