Online event: How the EU cooperates with Ukraine and Moldova when a disaster strikes


On April 27th, Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) delivered an online guest speaker event on EU cooperation with Moldova (MD) and Ukraine (UA) in the field of civil protection, in collaboration with two Speakers from the European Commission (DG ECHO). The workshop introduced the YEAs initiative and the Eastern Partnership, offered an overview of Moldova’s civil protection system, and presented the EU civil protection mechanism and rescEU, the European crisis reserve, including practical examples of how the EU is currently delivering life-saving aid to Ukraine.

Results Achieved:

  • Audience learned what tools are available for Ukraine and Moldova to ask for and deliver assistance to any country in the world.
  • Audience understood the process of requesting this assistance, with practical and timely examples of its impact, including after Russia’s war on Ukraine.
  • Promoted the EU’s response to emergencies in MD and UA, showing the impact of EU’s work in the Eastern Neighbourhood.
  • Raised awareness about how a joint action makes Europe stronger, highlighting the benefits of the EU-Eastern cooperation and EU’s solidarity when it’s most needed.
