Sevinj Mastiyeva: Every conquered peak is а new beginning

Since 2016, Azerbaijan has been participating in an EU-funded project that supports the country in the development and modernisation of migration policy (Support in the Implementation of the Mobility Partnership with Azerbaijan project, MOBILAZE).

Efforts are aimed at ensuring the security of border management and effective control over the flow of people.

During the three years of the project, numerous seminars and training courses on the implementation of advanced systems and mechanisms have been carried out for the sector’s specialists.

Sevinj Mastiyeva is an active participant in the project, representing one of the main beneficiaries – the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan, where she has been working in the Directorate for International Cooperation for the past four years.

She works on the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and international partners, the expansion of the contractual framework and the study of international experience.

As a result of participating in training and study trips to the project partner countries, she managed not only to improve her own professional skills, but also to receive the status of a licensed national and international trainer.

Sevinj conducted a series of classes on the subject of determining the security of identity documents, as well as identifying fraudulent documents for employees of state institutions of Azerbaijan working in the field of migration and border management, as well as for students and new professionals.

“Using the knowledge and skills gained through the project, I want to make a significant contribution to protecting the rights and freedoms of migrants living in our country, as well as to develop further the migration management system in Azerbaijan so that this area becomes attractive in terms of tourism development and investment,” says Sevinj.

The MOBILAZE project is funded by the EU and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) together with co-implementing partner institutions from 7 EU Member States, namely: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovakia.

Based on her own experience, Sevinj advises all women of Azerbaijan to constantly work to improve their professional level, strive towards their goals and not be discouraged in any circumstances.

“Every conquered pick is the beginning of the way that will lead you to new goals and victories,” she concludes.
