Republic of Moldova: Baseline study report of EUnlocking project (EU4Youth)


This baseline study report presents the results of research on the state of social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova.

It consists of the following areas:

1. Macroeconomic analysis of the Republic of Moldova – contains a context presentation of the economic situation of the country.

2. Capital access of social enterprises in Moldova – presents the main sources of funding that currently exist in the country and from which social enterprises can benefit.

3. Current social entrepreneurship landscape in Republic of Moldova – is focused on detailed description of the legal framework on SE in the country, current SE structure, as well as the infrastructure for SE that exists at country level.

The last part of the report presents general perception about SE, human resource structure in social enterprise as well as sources of financing of social businesses in Moldova.

The Baseline Study Report in Republic of Moldova has been prepared within the framework of the EU-funded project ‘EU4Youth – Unlocking the potential of young social entrepreneurs in Moldova and Ukraine’. The report will serve as a baseline for tracking the progress achieved during the implementation of the project.

The EUnlocking project helps to foster the social entrepreneurial potential of young people in Moldova and Ukraine by establishing a favourable ecosystem for social enterprises as well as by inspiring and supporting more young social entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their innovative solutions to the promotion of social inclusion and environmental sustainability across both countries.
