EU4Youth: youth camp in Zolotonosha, Ukraine, inspires community action

From 25 to 29 March the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project supported the Youth leaders camp in the Ukrainian town of Zolotonosha, organised by the ‘Youth Development Centre’ NGO.

The camp brought together active young people from across the Zolotonosha district representing various communities, including Irkliivska, Voznesenska, Shramkivska, Drabivska, Novodmytrivska, and Zolotoniska. The camp provided a valuable opportunity for young leaders to enhance their leadership skills, gain a deeper understanding of democratic citizenship, and learn how to implement their own initiatives.

The programme offered participants insights into non-formal education on democratic citizenship, fundamentals of training and facilitation, methods for conducting community needs assessments, effective volunteer management strategies, and the development of community-based projects.

Throughout the camp, participants actively worked on their own initiatives, which they presented at the end of the programme. As a result, three teams committed to establishing youth spaces in their communities, while two teams decided to organise clean-up initiatives in polluted areas.

At the end of the camp, all participants received certificates, new knowledge, experience and inspiration for further action.

The ‘Youth Development Centre’ NGO is a beneficiary of the grant programme under the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project, co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
