EU4Youth carries out inclusivity training in Ukraine

On 9-12 September the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project supported the National Ukrainian Youth Association (NUMO) in holding a training on inclusivity and barrier-free approaches for representatives of NUMO member organisations. The event aimed at boosting their knowledge and skills on inclusivity, accessibility, and human rights, while fostering a network of ambassadors ready to promote a barrier-free culture in their youth NGOs and communities.

The programme included sessions on the European Convention on Human Rights and the National Strategy on Barrier-Free Approaches, practical tasks on assessing spaces for architectural accessibility, learning the principles of correct and inclusive language, as well as gaining other useful knowledge to better understand barrier-free approaches. The participants also reflected on who young people are within their own organisations, what challenges they face, and how to create an environment that ensures equal opportunities for everyone.

Alongside the main sessions, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, share best practices, and build connections. The training became an important step in promoting equality, social cohesion, and the idea that every young person should feel included and valued.

The National Ukrainian Youth Association is a grant beneficiary of the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project, which is co-financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ.
