EU-supported Ukraine Energy Support Fund: Canada’s total contribution is now over €57 million

On 4 May, the Canadian government signed a €12.4 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing its lifetime contribution to over €57 million.

The newly signed funds are already in the process of being allocated by the Fund, administered by the Energy Community Secretariat, co-chaired by the European Commission, to repair and restore energy infrastructure across the country according to priority needs as identified by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.

“The Government of Canada’s contribution reflects both steadfast solidarity with the Ukrainian people and a clear recognition that supporting Ukraine’s energy system is essential to safeguarding energy security and stability across the wider region,” said Energy Community Secretariat Director Artur Lorkowski.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has been supporting the defence and recovery of Ukraine’s energy system since the start of the full-scale war in 2022. Roughly 30 per cent of the Fund’s total contributions (over €600 million) have been received since November 2025.

To date under the Fund, over 1,000 supply contracts worth more than €922 million have been signed, resulting in the reported delivery of over €660 million worth of energy aid. It includes but is not limited to transformers, pipelines, cables, wires, and switchgear. Roughly €260 million worth of energy aid is currently en route to Ukraine.
