EU Foreign Ministers will adopt the 15th sanctions package against Russia today, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas told journalists before the Foreign Affairs Council.
According to Kallas, these will include measures targeting the so-called Russian “shadow fleet”, as well as sanctions against North Korean officials and Chinese companies.
She said the latest package would be “a clear message that whoever enables this war to continue has a price to pay”.
Kaja Kallas also said the Foreign Affairs Council would discuss the situation in Georgia, which is “not going in the right direction where the candidate countries should be”.
She added that EU ministers would discuss the consequences for the Georgian government of using repression against the opposition. These consequences could include sanctions and limitation of visa-free regime.
According to a press release by the Council of the European Union, EU ministers will also exchange views on Belarus, ahead of the presidential election scheduled for 26 January 2025.
