EU-Armenia Youth Forum held in Yerevan

On 12 February, the EU-Armenia Youth Forum brought together 70 young people from various regions of the country. It was organised by the EU Delegation to Armenia and its Youth Advisory Council, in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Armenia.

During the youth-led panel discussion, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos highlighted EU youth initiatives in Armenia and spoke about “the importance of ensuring that young people, especially those from less favourable environments, feel empowered and are given the space to recognise their own potential, understand their needs, build skills, and actively participate in dialogue.”

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Artur Martirosyan, encouraged young participants to remain proactive, make use of available opportunities, and continue engaging in shaping policies and initiatives that affect their future.

Young panellists from the Youth Advisory Council and the Young European Ambassadors network highlighted key issues such as lack of information, language barriers, ineffective communication about programmes and opportunities, and mobility gaps between regions and Yerevan.

Participants also took part in an Erasmus+ information session delivered by the National Erasmus+ Office Armenia, Erasmus Student Network Armenia, and the YEAs initiative

The forum concluded with a Europe Day workshop, where participants developed ideas for an EU-Armenia fair stand. The winning proposal, selected by the participants themselves, will now be further developed and implemented during Europe Days in Armenia.
