EU and Georgia hold consultations on security and defence


On 29-30 March, the EU and Georgia held their annual consultation on security and defence.

The consultations in Tbilisi were co-chaired by the Managing Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS) for Common Security and Defence Policy and Crisis Response, Pawel Herczynski, the Director General of the EU Military Staff, Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean, and Georgia’s First Deputy Defence Minister Lela Chikovani.

In the context of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the sides discussed the regional security situation and ways to further deepen security and defence cooperation between the EU and Georgia, including countering hybrid threats, cyber security issues and countering misinformation.
