‘A pleasure and a privilege’: Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis concludes his visit to Ukraine


On 31 January and 1 February,  ​​Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis went on a visit to Kiev to demonstrate the EU’s unwavering support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

Dombrovskis met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and other government representatives. He also took part in a ceremony at the Memorial Wall, in Kyiv, and discussed security challenges in the region with government representatives.

“A pleasure and a privilege,” wrote ​​Dombrovskis on Twitter, concluding his “short and focused visit to Ukraine”. He thanked top Ukrainian officials for their warm welcome and added: “Working to swiftly adopt the EU’s new 1,2 billion macro-financial assistance. As ever, EU stands by Ukraine.”
