Georgia: EU-funded grants for non-farm start-ups and businesses in eight municipalities 

Non-farm start-ups and businesses in the Georgian municipalities of Akhalkalaki, Borjomi, Dedoplistskaro, Kazbegi, Keda, Khulo, Lagodekhi, and Tetritskaro are invited to a apply for a grant. The call for proposals is launched by the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

The grant programme aims to foster rural economic diversification, create sustainable employment, and improve sustainable management of natural resources and climate action in rural areas.

Grants for start-ups or existing business expansion will range from 20,000 to 340,000 GEL per beneficiary for the duration of the programme, with a maximum of 170,000 GEL per project. Grants for energy efficiency measures range from 1,500 GEL to 30,000 GEL per application. In both cases, the grantees will be required to co-finance at least 20% of the total business project value.

The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2021.

The grant initiative is part of the broader EU-funded ENPARD programme, which supports agriculture and rural development in Georgia since 2013 with a total budget of €179.5 million.
