EU4Youth IV: Ukrainian Youth Councils Association awarded grant to enhance participation and political awareness of Ukrainian youth

The Ukrainian Youth Councils Association has received a €50,000 grant under the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project, co-funded by the European Union and the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by GIZ.

The grant focuses on enhancing political awareness of young people involved in youth councils and NGOs, as well as on empowering youth with political aspirations, and promoting gender equality in political participation.

The project aims to equip young people with the tools and knowledge necessary to pursue political careers while maintaining their connection to broader youth participation initiatives. By challenging the negative stereotypes surrounding politics and public service, the project seeks to increase youth involvement in decision-making processes and create opportunities for meaningful engagement with local authorities. A significant focus will also be placed on empowering young women, helping them overcome societal norms and personal barriers to participate more actively in political life.

The initiative will employ a structured framework of training sessions, simulation games, and educational material development to strengthen the capacity of youth councils and NGOs. By strengthening them to better represent and advocate for youth interests, this project will contribute significantly to fostering a more inclusive and participatory political environment in Ukraine.
