EU4Youth empowering girls: launch of the Girls Empowerment Academy 1.0

The ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project has supported the launch of a new initiative by the Women’s League NGO to foster leadership and active participation among young girls in Ukraine. The Girls Empowerment Academy 1.0 aims to equip girls with the necessary skills to influence decision-making processes in their communities and beyond.

This initiative received over 470 applications. After a selection process, 75 of the most motivated participants were chosen to embark on a transformative journey of learning and self-development. The programme combines both online and offline components, offering a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance leadership skills, project management abilities, public speaking confidence, social media literacy, and the capacity to implement independent initiatives.

The first information session took place on 25 January, marking the official start of the Academy. The event provided an opportunity for participants to familiarise themselves with the project, build connections with like-minded peers, and engage in discussions on critical topics. The session featured workshops on responsible leadership and goal achievement, as well as an in-depth exploration of societal equality and challenges related to gender disparity.

Through this initiative, the Girls Empowerment Academy 1.0 aims to build a strong community of young female changemakers, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to become proactive leaders.

The ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project is co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by the German Development Agency GIZ.
