Armenia: Yerevan improves water supply with European Union support

The EU Delegation to Armenia has announced the completion of a project to improve the water supply in Yerevan.

On 7 May, EU representatives took part in an opening ceremony in the Aghtanak district, marking the successful completion of major works to develop water infrastructure, co-financed by the European Union and its financial institutions.

The works included the rehabilitation and construction of over 200 km of water mains, the modernisation and installation of nearly 19,000 household connections, and the refurbishment of pumping stations.

The project has ensured a round-the-clock water supply, improved service quality, and reduced water losses.

The total investment amounted to €16.1 million. This comprised a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) of US$7 million, a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of US$7 million, and a grant from the EU Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP) of €5.5 million.
