Stronger Voices for Better Choices - Youth Hub for WB&Т

Project Description

The 'Youth Hub for Western Balkans and Türkiye Network' is committed to empowering young people to play an active role in shaping the future of their communities and the region. Through this project, we aim to create a more inclusive environment that supports the social, economic, and political participation of young women and men across the Western Balkans and Türkiye.

A key focus of the project is on marginalised youth - including young women and girls, Roma youth, youth with disabilities, minorities, and those living in rural areas. Many of these young people have limited access to information, opportunities, or civic initiatives. By engaging them directly, the project encourages their involvement in community life and helps them take part in the EU integration process and the broader democratic transformation of their societies.

We believe that active citizenship and civic participation are essential for sustainable change. Civil society organisations (NGOs) play a crucial role in ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and that reforms are inclusive, transparent, and effective. When well-connected and equipped with the right skills, NGOs can mobilise communities, foster dialogue, and advocate for policies that reflect the real needs and aspirations of young people.
Specific Objective

• Support evidence-based advocacy to improve policymaking and the implementation of reforms.
• Build the capacities and regional collaboration of NGOs to influence decision-making and public debate - especially on issues affecting young women and men.
• Increase the engagement, visibility, and influence of NGOs in raising public awareness, mobilizing citizens, and promoting broad civic participation.

Expected Results

• Better policies for young people - the project will help improve policymaking and the implementation of reforms in the Western Balkans and Türkiye. A key achievement will be the creation of the Youth Participation Index (YPI) - an innovative tool that measures how actively young people take part in political, economic, and social life across the region.
• Stronger and more connected youth organisations - the project will strengthen the skills and cooperation of 88 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), helping them work together more effectively and have a greater impact on decisions that affect young women and men.
• More active and visible youth engagement - the project will increase the ability of NGOs to raise public awareness, mobilise citizens, and promote youth participation in community and civic life, ensuring that young voices are heard and valued.
