Men and gender equality in the Republic of Moldova


The International Survey “Men and Gender Equality in the Republic of Moldova” is coordinated by the Promundo organization and the International Center for Research on Women (one of the most comprehensive studies, which provides a holistic picture of the lives of men and women, the attitudes and behaviors of men and women with regarding gender equality, family relations, the role and involvement of men in family life, including the involvement of men in the upbringing and education of children, childhood experiences related to violence, gender equality in the family, stress, migration, unemployment, etc. Since 2014 , this survey was used in 10 countries as a tool to assess the attitudes and behaviors of men and women in the process of implementing policies or program initiatives in the field of gender equality. The data and recommendations of the study served in these countries as the basis for launching discussions at national level, in order to develop some new politics, the development of some initiatives, in order to promote gender equality and prevent gender-based violence.

The purpose of the research was to know and understand the behavior, attitudes of men and women, the changes that occur in their attitudes and behavior in order to develop, direct and monitor policies in the field of gender equality. Carrying out the research allowed the collection of data at the national level that serve as a reference for monitoring the changes that will occur in the attitudes and behavior of women and men, as a result of the implementation of policies and programs to promote gender equality.
