Russia’s war against Ukraine: EU Ambassadors agree in principle on 13th package of sanctions

EU Ambassadors in Brussels today agreed in principle a 13th package of sanctions over Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the Belgian Presidency of the 2024 EU Council has announced on X.

“This package is one of the broadest approved by the EU. It will undergo a written procedure and be formally approved for 24 February,” says the announcement.

This year, 24 February will mark two years since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the agreement on the package.

“We must keep degrading Putin’s war machine. With 2000 listings in total, we keep the pressure high on the Kremlin,” Von der Leyen wrote on X. “We are also further cutting Russia’s access to drones.”
