Moldova: Tarnauca hosts traditional ‘Chiraleisa’ Festival

On 15 January, National Culture Day of Moldova, the ethnographic guesthouse Casa Karaman in Târnăuca, on the left bank of the Nistru River, hosted the traditional ‘Chiraleisa’ Festival.

The event was  organised with the support of the Culture Platform, created as part of the ‘Confidence Building Measures’ programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova.

The sixth edition of ‘Chiraleisa’ presented a diverse and authentic programme, both gastronomic and musical. The festival included a sausage-making competition, a fair with traditional products, herbal teas, and tinctures.  Members of the Association of Folk Artisans from the left bank of the Nistru River presented handicrafts.

More than 500 people participated in the festival, including experts in the field of intangible heritage, economic agents providing tourism services on both banks of the Nistru, and visitors.
