EU to accept Georgian and Moldovan COVID certificates

Starting from 16 November, the EU accepts the COVID certificates issued by Georgia and Moldova under the same conditions as the EU Digital COVID Certificate. According to equivalence decisions adopted by the European Commission on 15 November, the mutual recognition of certificates also applies to New Zealand and Serbia.

This decision means that the four countries will be connected to the EU’s system. At the same time, the four countries agreed to accept EU Digital COVID Certificate for travel from the EU to their countries.

“With today‘s decisions, 49 countries and territories in five continents are connected to the EU Digital COVID Certificate system. We continue our efforts to strengthen travellers’ confidence in safe travel inside and outside the EU,”  Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, said.

Ukraine and Armenia are already connected to the EU Digital COVID Certificate system.

“Just as we have stood by our partners in the fight against the pandemic, we continue to work together to open up safely,” said Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.
