YEAs support beach clean-up event ‘Clean sea starts with you!’

On 19 September, 10 Young European Ambassadors joined #EUBeachCleanup campaign organised by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan as part of the International Coastal Clean-up Day.

Representatives of the EU Member States’ embassies, EU projects implemented in Azerbaijan, Young European Ambassadors, young volunteers, local private companies and other international players took part in the event.

Five hectares of land in the coastal settlement of Jorat, Sumgayit have been cleared of plastic and other waste. Special containers have been installed with the support of the EU delegation to sort the waste on the beach.

Every year in September, the EU organises the awareness-raising campaign – #EUBeachCleanup. In 2019, over 40,000 volunteers were mobilised in nearly 80 countries including Azerbaijan.
