Taking the EU to the regions of Armenia

Young people in the regions have less access to information about the EU and the opportunities it provides to Armenian youth. Therefore, Young European Ambassadors from Armenia organize their informal training sessions and awareness-raising meetings mostly in different regions, reaching out to youth clubs and NGOs to assist them in finding target audiences.

Since 2017 YEAs managed to visit Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor regions of Armenia. The workshops held in these regions involved an introduction to the EU, its history, institutions, values, and EU-Armenia relations, followed by a detailed information on Erasmus +, youth exchanges, informal education, European Solidarity Corps, with a special focus on how to find/apply to such programmes. YEAs also represented their initiative and informed young people on how they can get involved. It is noteworthy that after regional visits many young people get involved and keep in touch with the network, while several young people later applied and became YEAs themselves.

These informal training sessions are always followed by funny activities for participants to check their knowledge, learn new facts and get motivated. Armenian YEAs developed their content for a Euro quiz where participants learn more about the EU and its member states, and winners get symbolic gifts from YEAs. The objective of such activities is to empower youth in smaller communities of Armenia, to motivate them and to raise awareness among them on the EU-funded opportunities and support to young people in Armenia.
