Von der Leyen meets Zelenskyy in New York: focus on summit in October


On 21 September, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, met Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy. The meeting took place on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.

We discussed how to strengthen EU-Ukraine relations ahead of our summit in October. The EU welcomes Ukraine’s sustained reform efforts,” Ursula von der Leyen said on Twitter. “We remain committed to unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

In his reciprocal tweet, Vladimir Zelenskyy thanked the President of the European Commission for the participation of the EU in the Crimea Platform Summit at the highest level and for the allocation of a tranche of macro-financial assistance. He added they had “stressed the importance of strategic dialogue on energy security”.
