European Commissioner Dombrovskis: next payment of €2.5 billion to reach Kyiv by the end of this month

By the end of November, Kyiv will receive another €2.5 billion payment from the European Commission. This was announced by the European Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis on 8 November.

He added the Commission would today propose a more structural solution for assisting Ukraine, with an assistance package of up to €18 billion of concessional loans for 2023.

“We should aim for a first disbursement in January,” said Dombrovskis. “Our aim is to secure approval from the European Parliament and Council before the end of the year. It needs to be decided quickly: 2023 is approaching fast and Ukraine’s financing needs are urgent.”
