EU High representative announces senior appointments: the heads of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan and Moldova replaced


On 2 July, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, announced several appointments for senior positions in the European External Action Service (EEAS). Two of them concern Eastern Neighborhood.

The current Head of Delegation to Azerbaijan, Kestutis Jankauskas becomes Head of Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan. He formerly served as Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

Janis Mazeiks becomes Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. He is currently Under-Secretary of State, Political Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. He formerly served as Latvian Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
