Energy Community: North Macedonia first to donate emergency energy equipment to Ukraine

North Macedonia became the first Energy Community Contracting Party to transfer emergency power supply equipment to Ukraine. Six electricity transformers given in-kind by the distribution system operator Elektrodistribucija DOOEL, a subsidiary of EVN North Macedonia, were delivered to Ukraine.

Deliveries of critical specialised energy equipment donated by private companies to Ukraine are coordinated by the Secretariat’s Task Force on Support to Ukraine. The list of requested emergency power equipment includes more than 10,000 items.

Artur Lorkowski, head of the Energy Community Secretariat, said the Secretariat was making every effort to support Ukraine and its people, including through coordinating the shipments of specialised energy equipment donations. “As of today, the work of the Ukraine Support Task Force has resulted in the delivery of more than 300 metric tonnes of emergency equipment valued at over €3 million,” said Lorkowski.

The Energy Community is an international organisation which brings together the European Union and its neighbours to create an integrated pan-European energy market.
