On 27 May, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, expressed the EU’s fullest solidarity with the Pratasevich family and his deep empathy as a father. Charles Michel said on Twitter that he called Dzmitry Pratasevich, the father of a dissident journalist Raman Pratasevich, detained by Belarusian authorities on 23 May together with Sofia Sapega.

“I reiterate the EU’s call on Belarus authorities to immediately release his son Raman, Sofia Sapega as well as all political prisoners, said Michel.

Raman Pratasevich and Sofia Sapega were detained after the Ryanair flight from Athens to Vilnius was landed by force in Minsk.
