Since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, more than 3 million Ukrainians – the vast majority women and children – have fled to neighbouring countries. Another 160,000 people have been internally displaced across Ukraine amid freezing winter temperatures. The UN estimates that 54 per cent of people in need of assistance from the ongoing crisis are women, and evidence shows that women and girls are disproportionately affected by conflict.
There are many initiatives supporting women and girls affected by the war in Ukraine, ranging from major international organisations to small civil society actions. We have gathered a list of some of them below:

This website is managed by the EU-funded Regional Communication Programme for the Eastern Neighbourhood ('EU NEIGHBOURS east’), which complements and supports the communication of the Delegations of the European Union in the Eastern partner countries, and works under the guidance of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and the European External Action Service. EU NEIGHBOURS east is implemented by a GOPA PACE-led consortium. It is part of the larger Neighbourhood Communication Programme (2020-2024) for the EU's Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood, which also includes 'EU NEIGHBOURS south’ project that runs the EU Neighbours portal.
