Strengthening National Mine Action Capacities in Armenia

Descrierea
The Project aims to address challenges, caused by mine and explosive ordnance contamination (EO) in Armenia, which is a consequence of Nagorno Karabakh (NK) conflict since early 1990s. The outbreak of the conflict in September 2020, and later large-scale military hostilities on 13-14 September resulted in additional contamination patterns in the conflict-affected regions, including border areas of Armenia, causing direct threat to population, living in border communities. The project aims to increase safety and security for women, men and children in the communities affected by mine and EO contamination, improve preparedness and protection of the communities and strengthening national mine action structures to address the EO contamination in compliance with International Mine Action Standards.
