Yerevan Water Supply Improvement Project (YWIP) is being implemented in the frames of the Loan Agreement signed on July 19, 2013 between the Republic of Armenia, represented by the RA Ministry of Finance, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The total budget of the Project is USD 21,095,524.72 M, including USD 7,0 M – EBRD loan funds, USD 7,0 M – EIB loan funds, USD 6,060,340.2 (equal to EUR 5,5 M) – EU NIF grant funds, USD 1,035,184.52 – EBRD grant funds.
Yerevan Water Supply Improvement Projects provides for rehabilitation and modernization of 30 booster pumps, rehabilitation/construction of water supply systems of Arabkir, Kanaker-Zeytun (Package 1), Erebuni (Package 2), Center, Aygestan, Nork-Marash, Avan, Shengavit (Package 3), Malatia-Haghtanak (Package 4), Silikyan (Package 5), Nor Kharbert (Package 7) and Pirumyan districts, Balahovit community, replacement of 3 new pumps in Araratyan pumping station (Package 6).
The rehabilitation works of booster pumps under Packages 1-3 were launched in 2016 and completed in September, 2021. Packages 1-3 also covered rehabilitation of 80,454․5m water supply distribution networks, replacement of 73,764 m individual house connection pipelines and installation of water meter units for 10,638 prescribers. All the above works have been successfully implemented.

The construction works of Packages 4-7 have commenced since August, 2023 and completion of works is provided for September, 2025.
Packages 4-7 cover rehabilitation of 121,519 m water supply distribution networks, replacement of 60,368 m individual house connection pipelines and installation of water meter units for 7,607 prescribers.

In total, the Project provides for rehabilitation of 201,974 m water supply distribution networks, replacement of 134,132 m individual house connection pipelines and installation of water meter units for 18,245 prescribers, rehabilitation of 30 booster pumping stations.

In the frames of YWIP Project, pipe reinforcements, DN 50-300 gates, flexible flange inserts, steel flanges, fire hydrants, individual water metering devices, DN 20 valves, couplings, check valves and individual water meter chambers in the amount of around USD 2,0 M have been procured and provided to the Contractors.
The Project Completion is set at December, 2025.
Obiectivul specific
1․ Rehabilitation of deteriorated and emergency water supply distribution networks in private house districts of Yerevan;
2․ Replacement of individual household pipelines;
3․Relocation of water meter units out of the private zones to make it accessible for the Operator.
4․Rehabilitation and modernization of deteriorated booster pumps in multi-storied buildings.
5․ Replacement of deteriorated and emergency water pipelines of multi-storied buildings.
Rezultatele așteptate
1․Reduction of water losses of the system.
2․Enhancement of water supply distribution network sustainability, improvement of water quality to ensure drinking water supply in compliance with the RA existing norms;
3. 24/7 water supply
4. Additional commercial and industrial customers
5. Reduction in non-revenue water and operation costs of booster pumps in multi-storied buildings.
