Comprehensive Support to the National Mine Action Sector in Ukraine – Operational Assistance to Humanitarian Demining by State Operators

Project Description
The project aims to strengthen State mine action operations in Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to liberate territories from Russian military occupation, large scale contamination with landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other explosive remnants of war is being discovered. Contamination threatens first responders, returning civilian populations and hinders the use of crucial civilian infrastructure and the return of economic activity. Tackling the demining challenge within the implementation of project activities, the equipment will be purchased for beneficiary institutions and strategic and technical advice on integrated national mine action governance to the State Mine Action Operators of Ukraine will be provided.
Specific Objective
To strengthen State mine action operators in Ukraine in order to remedy exceptional and unforeseen situations as referred to in Article 4(4)(a) of Regulation (EU) 2021/947.

Expected Results
The project aims to achieve the following results divided into components:
Component 1. Equipment and Support to State Mine Action Operators:

1. Equipment to the State Emergency Services of Ukraine delivered;
2. Equipment to the State Special Transport Service of Ukraine delivered;
3. Training on how to use the equipment conducted, if necessary;

Component 2. Support to strengthen humanitarian mine action in Ukraine:
1. Strategic and technical advice on integrated national mine action governance to the State Mine Action Operators of Ukraine provided.
