Opening of YEAs EuroClub in Kvareli


Local YEA, a graduate of the public school #1, Nika Gurini established the EuroClub in order to create a space for discussions and non-formal education for local youth. The name was chosen as Ilia Chavchavadze, Georgian writer, political figure, poet, and publisher was born in Kvareli and is famous for his leading role to the revival of the Georgian national movement in the second half of the 19th century, against the Russian rule of Georgia.

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Ambassador Carl Hartzell opened the EuroClub together with Mayor of Kvareli municipality and the school director. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of people-to people contacts in his opening remarks: “as a EU Ambassador here in Georgia, my main guiding light is to make sure that the EU-Georgia relationship is getting stronger and stronger. One very crucial aspect of our relationship is also people-to-people contacts… The EuroClub here is contributing to the same aim which is to bring people together”.
