Health Impact Assessment Practice in Georgia

Project Description
The overall objective of the project is to provide assistance to Georgian institutions in the implementation of Health-related obligations of the Association Agreement to foster health in all sectors approach. The specific objective of the project is to strengthen the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and relevant stakeholders' institutional capacity for integrating health aspects in the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) evidence-based decision making.
Specific Objective
Presentation of best practices and legislation in EU member States;
Support in drafting normative acts +agreed and coordinated institutional methodology for conducting HIA (guidelines, quality standard, methodologies, and data collection procedures)
training of NCDC public health professionals in GIS data analysis, legal tools, and procedures to conduct the HIA
training of staff at the National environmental agency to conduct HIA
training of partners and civil society
support in developing the collaboration platform and environment
Expected Results
Georgian Public Health legal and regulatory framework revised in line with the provisions of the relevant Annexes of the Association Agreement (AA) as well as taking into account Georgia's commitments towards Multilateral Environmental Agreements and other relevant international pledges;
Institutional Capacity to Conduct Health Impact Assessment of the environmental health risks under the LELP national Center for Disease Control and public health strengthened ;
The capacity of relevant state authorities and other key stakeholders to ensure reliable and quality data management;
A well organized and coordinated public involvement;
