Support to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) in further approximation of legal, procedural and case enforcement practices with EU antitrust and merger control practices

Project Description
The main goals of the 2-year EU Twinning project “Legal and Enforcement Support to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU)“ are to assist AMCU in further approximation of local competition law and procedures with EU competition rules, to improve the quality of AMCU decisions and foster competition culture in Ukraine. This will be achieved by a dedicated team of Lithuanian, German and Romanian experts who will work closely together with Ukrainian partners conducting a number of trainings for AMCU staff in both central and regional offices, providing consultancy on individual cases, improving guidelines, internal rules and procedures on handling cases, carrying out investigations, holding AMCU sessions and hearings, and other procedural actions.
Specific Objective
Increase effectiveness, transparency and consistency of the competition policy in Ukraine on the basis of closer alignment with the EU competition framework, as required by AA.
Expected Results
1. To ensure further alignment of the Ukrainian economic competition legislation with the EU competition laws in the field of antitrust and merger control.

2. To improve the institutional capacity of AMCU for competition law enforcement and competition advocacy.
