Azerbaijan: ‘open door’ days at EU-supported vocational education and training centres

On 27 May, the European Union (EU), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State Agency on Vocational Education (SAVE) launched a series of ‘open door’ days in the vocational education and training (VET) centres in Ganja, Jalilabad and Sheki to raise awareness about them and to make VET education more attractive for young people in Azerbaijan.

The first in the series of events was organised in partnership with the Ganja State Vocational Centre for Trade and Services and the Ganja State Vocational Centre on Industry and Technologies. The virtual event brought together 300 participants. They learned more about the ongoing modernisation of the VET system, admission procedures, as well as facilities and services available in the Ganja VET Centre.

This event was organised as part of the VET for the Future: Development of VET Providers’ Excellence in Azerbaijan project, which is funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the State Agency on Vocational Education. The project supports the modernisation of VET institutions in Azerbaijan to deliver competence-based training in order to increase the attractiveness and labour market relevance of VET.
