Vaccines and medical equipment arrive in Moldova with EU support

The European Union continues to support Moldova in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, with new deliveries of vaccines and medical equipment to support the country.

On 21 May, Moldova received 100,620 doses of BioNTech/Pfizer and 45,600 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines, channelled through the EU supported COVAХ platform.

The day before, on 20 May, Germany sent Moldova a shipment of the medical equipment via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Moldova received 7 million surgical masks, 3.5 million FFP2 masks, 100 ventilators, 500,000 pairs of gloves, 500,000 goggles, 150,000 protective suits and 900 pulse oximeters to support doctors and their patients.
