Ukraine: school modernised in Poltava Oblast with EU support and EIB loan

A school in Dykanka, in the Poltava Oblast of Ukraine, officially reopened last week after undergoing extensive renovation and modernisation through a project launched under the Ukraine Early Recovery Programme.

The project, implemented by the Ukrainian and local governments, was funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB), with a €1.5 million EU grant for technical assistance.

The school building underwent extensive repair work: the walls were insulated, the windows, doors, part of the roof, and heating system were replaced. Access to the school was improved with an entry ramp and a lift. New furniture was also provided.

The project lasted from August 2020 to December 2021, and had a budget of €1.6 million, including the €1.4 million loaned provided by the EIB.
