Ukraine joins International Clean Beach Day

Ukraine has joined InternationalClean Beach Day by organising three cleanings on the Black Sea coast with the support of the EU / UNDP Project EU4EMBLAS.

Clean Beach Day is celebrated around the world on 18 September. The first cleaning took place on 15 September at the Kinburn Spit in Ochakiv district of Mykolaiv Oblast, with representatives of the ‘Biloberezhzhya Svyatoslava’ National Park and the ‘Kinburn’ public organisation launching a large-scale environmental action.

The participants cleaned the coastline of the Black Sea and the Dnipro-Bug estuary over a total area of about 6 km. The organisers also gave a lecture on nature conservation and waste sorting and handed out gifts to all participants.

Two other cleanings took place on 18 and 19 September in Primorske village, Odesa region, and Dzharilgach island, in the Skadovsk district of Kherson Oblast.
