Ukraine: EU supports blood donation campaign

The Ukrainian Ministry of Health, the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Centre and their partners, in cooperation with the EU project ‘Support to Ukraine in developing a modern public health system’, have launched an information campaign on blood donation.

The campaign ‘Your blood can fight. Become a donor’ invites everyone to register for a donation through https://www.donor.ua/ and https://helsi.me/ services.

According to the Donor.ua project, 200,000 people in Ukraine are currently in need of donor blood.

“Increasing blood reserves in Ukraine is essential. New challenges are caused by war daily: blood is needed every day to save wounded defenders and to treat civilian patients during planned operations, giving birth or transplantation procedures,” says the EU Delegation to Ukraine. “Permanent provision of donor blood and its components is a guarantee of national security and defence capability of the country, especially in the conditions of martial law.”
