Ukraine: EU and IOM launch nationwide information campaign to prevent human trafficking in wartime

On 2 May, the European Union and IOM launch an all-Ukrainian awareness-raising campaign for the prevention of human trafficking during the war.

“Taking care of the Ukrainians, who had to leave their homes escaping Russia’s invasion, we continue to provide much-needed help to such people and consult about the security rules and risks while traveling, looking for a job or a place to stay,” says a press release from the EU and IOM. 

In mid-March, humanitarian organisations across Europe warned that Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war at home were at risk of human trafficking, with both women and children at risk, and called on refugees to be mindful of the dangers and follow basic safety tips.
