TogetherWeBringLight: Ukrainians exchange five million incandescent light bulbs for new LED light bulbs

In just two weeks, Ukrainians have exchanged five million incandescent light bulbs for new LED light bulbs under a joint energy-saving programme launched by the EU and the Ukrainian government.

Around one million Ukrainians have already used the programme offering to exchange old incandescent light bulbs with new energy-saving LED bulbs. Another 2.2 million energy-saving light bulbs have been ordered in exchange for old bulbs via the Diia app, according to the deputy Economy Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev. He reported on the progress of the #TogetherWeBringLight campaign at a press briefing, also attended by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas.

“We are grateful to France for quickly adding five million bulbs to the 35 million bulbs provided by the EU,” added Ambassador Matti Maasikas. “I call on all EU member countries to join the campaign in order to achieve the goal together – replace 50 million outdated bulbs and save one Gigawatt of electricity.”
